About this video

Begin the basic berimbolo by knocking down the opponent and preparing to take their back. Maintain control throughout the movement by choosing to either hold onto the collar or reach for the belt once on the shoulder. The critical detail is to use the grip to pull your head towards the opponent's hip, facilitating the shooting of your feet across to their far hip.

Keep your head in contact with their hip and ensure your hooks are firmly on their hip, allowing you to follow if they move. With the left hand, originally controlling the ankle, reach for the opponent's far leg, aiming for the hip or belt loop rather than the ankle for better control.

Rotate slightly to the right, face the opponent, and bring your feet to the mat while pulling them towards you as you sit up. Establish grips for climbing their back, with the left hand on the belt and the right hand reaching for the back of the collar. Pull yourself up towards the opponent to secure the second hook and the seatbelt grip, ensuring you're in a strong position on their back.
