About this video
Transitioning from the De La Riva guard to the crab ride position and securing the Twister hook:
- Begin by widening the opponent's base from the De La Riva guard, using your foot on their thigh or hip to create space.
- Bridge up and reach across the opponent's body to gain leverage and start moving towards their back.
- Switch your grip to the opponent's pants or belt and bring your opposite hook behind, squaring up with them.
- If the opponent falls back, transition into the crab ride position with your head to the left and secure a Twister hook on the right.
- Post your left foot on the back of the opponent's right ankle to create space.
- Swim your right leg in to establish the Twister hook.
- Use your left leg as a pendulum to lift the opponent into a seated position or lock up a figure 4 to control them.
- Secure the second hook and obtain the seatbelt grip to complete the back take.
This sequence allows for a smooth transition from attacking the back to establishing a dominant crab ride position, leading to the Twister hook and ultimately taking the back.
