About this video
Transitioning to the Twister Hook from the Berimbolo begins in a double guard pull situation, already on your side. Maintain control with grips on the collar or belt, ensuring your head is close to the opponent's hip. Reach for the far leg, aiming high up by the hamstring or hip.
- Bring your shin behind the opponent's knee by pumping your leg upward, moving your foot from their hip to behind their knee.
- Create space by either using your shin behind their ankle or pushing away. This motion should be quick to prevent the opponent from escaping.
- Post on the mat and rotate your hips towards the opponent, swinging your leg to insert the Twister Hook.
- Lock a figure four with your legs and curl the opponent's foot towards you to secure the position.
- From here, you can start taking the back. Release the figure four if preferred, keeping the Twister Hook tight.
- Use your free leg as a pendulum to create momentum and expose the opponent's back.
- Secure a grip on the opponent's skirt or hip with your free hand to assist in taking the back.
- Once the back is exposed, establish the seatbelt grip and insert the second hook to complete the back take.
Remember to keep your head in contact with the opponent's hip during the spin and to reach for the far leg to initiate the Twister Hook. Ensure your hooks are strong and not floppy to maintain control and prevent the opponent from kicking out.
