About this video
Applying the Super Drag from a seated position:
- Establish a grip with the left hand in the collar instead of the right, which is a variation from the traditional grip.
- Keep the hips square to the opponent rather than loading to one side.
- Use both hands behind the opponent's tricep, similar to the double drag technique.
- Lift the buttocks off the ground to utilize body weight and generate momentum for the drag.
- Execute the drag not solely with arm strength but by tucking the feet and elevating the hips.
- Follow through by either chasing the back, tackling, or transitioning into the one leg X-Guard depending on the opponent's reaction.
- This technique is particularly effective against larger, heavier, or more static opponents as it allows for better weight transfer.
- It also counters opponents with pant grips, especially when they are relatively stationary.
- To perform the drag against pant grips, create enough momentum to slightly lift the hips off the mat.
- Optionally, add a foot kick on the opposite side to assist with the drag.
The Super Drag from a seated position is versatile and can be adapted to work with or without pant grips, offering a dynamic approach to controlling and maneuvering past an opponent.
