About this video
Escaping a strong collar tie involves a sequence of movements to regain control. Initially, establish an outside tie and hold the opponent's tricep. Scoot the hips forward slightly and throw the shoulders back while turning the chest. This movement is akin to turning a collar tie into a Russian two-on-one from a standing position, but in this scenario, it transitions into a Jiu-Jitsu style two-on-one.
- Prepare to intercept the opponent's wrist with the other hand, using a thumb-ful grip.
- As you scoot forward, catch the wrist. The grip should naturally land on the line of the wrist.
- When the opponent tries to escape this control, their movement will assist in sitting up.
- Pull closer to the opponent, using the body's shape to rock back, lift, redirect, and stretch them with an inside hook.
- Focus on the timing, understanding the opponent's weight, and how to sequence movements effectively.
- Mark the opponent's wrist with the tie, scoot forward to catch it, and immediately sit up, using their momentum to execute the technique.
- Utilize the natural bounce and momentum to make the technique easier to apply in live training.
- Guide the momentum through the steps you already understand, turning what seems like a scramble into a controlled sequence where you end up on the opponent's back.
