About this video
Executing an armlock from the crucifix position, with a focus on gaining leverage when on the bottom:
- Enter the crucifix from an arm drag, pushing the opponent's head to find the belt position while maintaining control.
- If the opponent's weight is still on you, use your legs to create space and place their hip on your hook.
- Use your outside leg to lift the opponent off you and lock your thighs to control their arm.
- Apply shoulder pressure behind the opponent's neck to initiate a roll, or let the opponent roll you over.
- Stay connected to the opponent's upper body and maintain tight leg control throughout the roll.
- After rolling, ensure your top leg is over the opponent's arm, with both feet on the leg side of their arm for leverage.
- Apply pressure on the opponent's arm and catch it as it releases to transition into an armlock.
- For a generic figure four armlock, curl the bottom leg, open the top hip, and bridge at the angle of the opponent's arm.
- For more control and leverage, use the bottom leg to find an X-Guard control, steer the hip towards the opponent's elbow, curl the heels back, and secure the armlock.
- Follow the opponent's movements and adjust to maintain control, opting for the X-Guard control for a stronger armlock.
