About this video
Refining the collar drag to address situations where the opponent doesn't fall into a perfect back take. When the opponent tries to move behind the knees, apply the collar drag and off-balance them. If the opponent stands up quickly, there's an opportunity to transition to a double leg takedown.
- When the opponent attempts to step up or cover with their lower body to prevent you from standing, their legs become light, allowing for a transition to single leg X.
- Break the opponent's grips if necessary, then find the right moment to apply the collar drag as they change direction.
- If the opponent starts to cover, drag their leg to the outside of your body and transition into single leg X position.
- Even if the opponent's knee is on the mat, drive their weight away to make the knee light, enabling you to pluck it up and slide into single leg X control.
- The collar drag can also be used deliberately to set up a single leg X. If the opponent lifts a leg, keep their hand to the outside, drag, and simultaneously lift to enter single leg X.
