About this video

Executing a double grip arm drag involves using both hands on one of the opponent's arms, with a focus on understanding and manipulating weight distribution. The technique is initiated by sitting up and standing without using the hands, practicing the ability to tuck the feet close to the body and projecting the shoulders between the knees to roll back over the feet and stand up.

  1. Look for a moment when the opponent's hand is slightly inside and you feel their weight, indicating the right time to execute the move.
  2. Use the lower body to lift the hips off the ground, utilizing the weight of the hips against the opponent to gain momentum.
  3. As you pull on the opponent's arm, simultaneously get your leg out of the way to avoid being trapped between their legs.
  4. Execute the stand-up motion by throwing the opponent past you, as if through a wall or window, rather than just moving yourself out of the way.
  5. Ensure that as you come up, the line of your knee is higher than the line of the opponent's knees, and cover their body with your leg.
  6. Secure two hands above the opponent's elbow line, one slightly lower and one slightly higher, to establish a strong grip.
  7. After executing the drag, be prepared to tip, hook, or chase the opponent depending on their reaction to your movement.

This technique leverages the opponent's connection to the mat and their weight to assist in your movement, making it easier to perform with an opponent than alone. It's important to practice the movement of standing without hands to develop the necessary body mechanics.
