About this video

Entering and controlling the crucifix from the turtle position involves several key steps:

  1. Start by gluing your chest to the opponent's back and securing a seatbelt grip.
  2. Direct your knee towards the far hip of the opponent, using a knifing motion to slide it in.
  3. Clamp the opponent to your body, even before establishing the seatbelt, to control their weight and prevent them from rolling away.
  4. When the moment is right, transition to the seatbelt grip and look for the opportunity to hook and drag the opponent's arm into the crucifix.
  5. Swing your hip open and stomp your heel down onto the opponent's forearm, between the wrist and elbow, with your toes pointing out and heel heavy.
  6. Ensure your foot is touching your own knee to create a loop around the opponent's arm.
  7. Drive over the ball of your foot, bringing your knee to the mat, and pull the opponent's shoulders back to secure the crucifix position.
  8. Pinch your thighs together and scrape the opponent out to fully establish the position.
  9. Circle your free leg over the opponent's wrist to control their hand and prevent them from gaining leverage for an escape.
  10. Use an X-guard style control on the opponent's hand to isolate it and maintain control, keeping it away from any leverage points.

Remember to keep the feet on the leg side of the opponent's arm for maximum control and to prevent their hands from connecting or reaching leverage points that could facilitate an escape.
