About this video

Transitioning to a calf slicer from the single leg X position:

  1. Start in the single leg X position and begin to reap. If the opponent starts to pull away and you can't follow up, scooch your hips out slightly.
  2. Rotate your body to allow your left knee to come through the gap created by the reap.
  3. Connect your hands around the opponent's hips and work to fall towards your right side.
  4. Keep the lock connected and expand to apply the calf slicer.
  5. If the opponent doesn't tap from the calf slicer, extend your left leg to release them and transition into the leg drag position.
  6. As the opponent attempts to build up, catch their left arm, tilt them back over, and push yourself up to settle on top with control.
  7. To make it difficult for the opponent to reset their hip, chop at their knee or thigh, making their leg feel heavy.
  8. Fall off towards your right side, creating space to expand into and finish the calf slicer.
  9. If necessary, extend to cut the opponent loose and build into a leg drag, working to secure the top position.
