About this video
Attempting to enter shin on shin, the instructor encounters resistance as the opponent places her hand inside and on the mat, preventing the initial entry. The opponent swims her left knee inside, blocking the instructor's right knee and thwarting the one leg X attempt.
- As a response, the instructor resets to Reverse De La Riva, spins through the opponent's legs, and uses this movement to re-enter one leg X.
- When the opponent cuts her left knee through, the instructor transitions to Reverse De La Riva, spins, and captures the opponent's right leg, which is the preferred side for the instructor.
- Using a short hook to lift the opponent, the instructor considers a waiter sweep but instead shifts the opponent's weight onto her right leg and proceeds with an X-Guard sweep.
- While building up from the sweep, it's crucial to cup the opponent's knee with the right hand to prevent them from escaping and to use the left hand to reinforce the position once standing.
- The instructor uses the left foot to adjust the opponent's balance, leading to a sequence where the opponent tries to push the hook out but is forced to post to avoid falling, allowing the instructor to continue adjusting with the left foot.
- After the opponent stabilizes, the instructor reaps, lengthens the legs, and turns inward, leading to a calf slicer submission when the opponent tries to rotate inwards to relieve knee pressure.
- From shin on shin, the instructor carves under to one leg X, transitions to 50/50, and then to the backside, securing a backside heel hook.
- Using the same shin on shin entry, the instructor moves under into deep half, then back to one leg X, using the position as a transitional point.
- The short hook threatens the back, forcing the opponent to address multiple threats. The instructor lifts slightly, snakes the left foot through, and extends past the opponent's right leg to reset one leg X.
- Finally, the instructor tilts towards the back corner, causing the opponent to post and stabilize, setting up for further attacks.
