About this video

Utilize the short hook to maneuver behind the opponent and transition into a backside X-Guard position for attacking the back and securing a finish. Establish the short hook and shift your weight to the opponent's second leg, anchoring to their knee. Extend your right leg to create space for your left foot to move behind the opponent's leg.

If the opponent's hip reaches the mat, set a trap by extending your arm and blading your body. Use your butterfly or crab ride hook and your right arm to steer the opponent, encouraging them to post. Thread your right foot over, establishing a twister hook, then build to a knee, cut the corner, and hide your foot to attack the back.

As you fall to your right side, maintain control of the opponent's shoulder to prevent them from turning. Secure your seatbelt grip and insert the second hook to complete the back take. If the opponent starts to turn into you during the transition, you can switch to a guillotine finish.

Create space between you and the opponent to disconnect from their shoulder, allowing you to swim your right arm through. Control the opponent's hips to prevent them from following, and drop your lat on the back of their head. Choose your preferred grip—hand on the back, high elbow, or S-grip—and slide your lat down as you fall to your right side to secure the guillotine finish.

When attempting the back attack, if the opponent turns into you, make space, thread your right arm through, and drop your lat for the guillotine. If the opponent doesn't take the bait on turning, continue to build up and get behind them. When they over-pursue the turn, create the opening, drop them into the pocket, and finish with the guillotine.
