About this video
Transitioning from Underhook De la Riva to X-Guard and finishing with a Leg Drag:
- Maintain control of the lapel and pull the opponent to the side while securing an underhook and grabbing the pants.
- Move into the X-Guard position by placing your shin behind the opponent's knee and your foot over their thigh, keeping tension to stretch them away and lift their foot off the mat.
- Prevent the opponent from putting weight down and passing by keeping them off balance on the standing leg.
- Switch the hand that was on the lapel to under the opponent's leg, grabbing their belt or pants, while maintaining pressure behind their knee with your leg.
- Use the outside hand to reach for the opponent's front lapel as you come up into position, pushing them to complete the pass.
- Stretch the opponent up and pull them into the X-Guard, ensuring their leg is off the mat to maintain control.
- Release the lapel and switch your grip underneath, passing their leg to the other side and securing the belt or pants.
- Trap the opponent's leg with your elbow and pull them down, sliding your leg if necessary to kick their leg as you pull.
- Reach for the opponent's cross lapel and come up on your tiptoes, positioning your knee above your own knee, keeping the opponent's hips elevated.
- Pull with your hand to keep the opponent's hips up and prevent them from recovering, securing the pass.
