About this video

Executing a back take from the Lapel guard using the De La Riva hook:

  1. Start by pulling the opponent diagonally to create pressure with their knee on your thigh, which prevents you from stretching them out.
  2. Go underneath the opponent's leg to pull it tighter and secure a firm grip on their pants.
  3. Attempt to insert your leg to sit up, but if the opponent is applying pressure and preventing this, adjust your strategy.
  4. Release the initial grip and switch to an underhook on the opponent's leg, lifting it slightly to facilitate the movement.
  5. Quickly switch your legs and grab the opponent's belt for control.
  6. As you switch the foot from one leg to the other, prepare to elevate the opponent.
  7. Elevate the opponent with a kick, transition to a seat belt grip, or opt for the backpack control.
  8. Secure the seat belt grip, place your hook hand, and move to the side to complete the back take.
