About this video
Executing a back take from the Lapel guard using the De La Riva hook:
- Start by pulling the opponent diagonally to create pressure with their knee on your thigh, which prevents you from stretching them out.
- Go underneath the opponent's leg to pull it tighter and secure a firm grip on their pants.
- Attempt to insert your leg to sit up, but if the opponent is applying pressure and preventing this, adjust your strategy.
- Release the initial grip and switch to an underhook on the opponent's leg, lifting it slightly to facilitate the movement.
- Quickly switch your legs and grab the opponent's belt for control.
- As you switch the foot from one leg to the other, prepare to elevate the opponent.
- Elevate the opponent with a kick, transition to a seat belt grip, or opt for the backpack control.
- Secure the seat belt grip, place your hook hand, and move to the side to complete the back take.
