About this video

Executing a rolling armbar from the De La Riva guard:

  1. Start by gripping the opponent's sleeve and lapel while in De La Riva guard.
  2. If unable to transition to a triangle, maintain the grip on the sleeve and lapel.
  3. In case the opponent grabs your leg to prevent movement, keep the sleeve grip strong and pop your hip up.
  4. Ensure your knee remains heavy on the opponent's body to control them.
  5. Trap the opponent's arm with your elbow, preparing for the armbar.
  6. Slide your knee across the opponent's face to secure the armbar position.
  7. As you turn, make sure to keep the grip tight and prevent the opponent from creating distance.
  8. Use your elbow to press down as you shift your knee, sliding your shin across the opponent's face.
  9. Switch grips to free one hand to trap the opponent's arm.
  10. Step over the opponent's head, secure their pants for leverage, and finalize the armbar.
