About this video
Executing a rolling armbar from the De La Riva guard:
- Start by gripping the opponent's sleeve and lapel while in De La Riva guard.
- If unable to transition to a triangle, maintain the grip on the sleeve and lapel.
- In case the opponent grabs your leg to prevent movement, keep the sleeve grip strong and pop your hip up.
- Ensure your knee remains heavy on the opponent's body to control them.
- Trap the opponent's arm with your elbow, preparing for the armbar.
- Slide your knee across the opponent's face to secure the armbar position.
- As you turn, make sure to keep the grip tight and prevent the opponent from creating distance.
- Use your elbow to press down as you shift your knee, sliding your shin across the opponent's face.
- Switch grips to free one hand to trap the opponent's arm.
- Step over the opponent's head, secure their pants for leverage, and finalize the armbar.
