Transitioning from Lapel Guard to a sweep using the opponent's momentum:

  1. Start by pulling the opponent forward from Lapel Guard to initiate an attack.
  2. If the opponent steps back to regain posture and relieve pressure, use this momentum to set up the next move.
  3. As the opponent steps back, cross your foot over and use their backward momentum to sweep them to the side.
  4. After the sweep, you have two options to continue:
    1. Option one is to come up on your leg and pass their guard.
    2. Option two, if you feel pressure and cannot sit up, is to fall back into Knee on Belly.
  5. For the Knee on Belly option, trap the opponent's leg, hold their pants tightly, kick out to break their grip, and then come up in the same position.
  6. When transitioning to X-Guard and the opponent resists by putting pressure back, insert your foot and use their momentum against them.
  7. Feel for the opponent's movement towards you and use your arm to assist in redirecting their momentum for the sweep.
  8. Take advantage of the opponent's momentum to either come up and grab their leg or cross their body to establish a dominant position.
