About this video
Executing a single leg takedown from the Open De la Riva involves several key movements:
- Pull the opponent to the side to create an off-balance and control their leg.
- Open up and use your leg as a pendulum to elevate yourself.
- Start to circle around the opponent, who may attempt to base out to counter your movement.
- If the opponent bases out, counter by switching to the other side.
- Whip your leg around as you continue to move quickly, maintaining posture and control.
- Work to take the opponent down by exploiting their posture adjustments.
- If you end up on the side, ensure your arm isn't too tight and either come back to the original position or stay put to secure your two points.
