About this video
Transitioning to an omoplata from the De la Riva guard when the opponent's arm is tight:
- Start by controlling the opponent's heel and securing the lapel grip.
- If the opponent's arm is tight and an arm drag is not possible, release the lapel grip.
- Move the controlled arm across to the other side.
- Release the De la Riva hook and transition into an omoplata submission.
- Let go of the lapel to come up into the omoplata, securing the position.
- If the opponent is applying heavy pressure, switch the lapel grip to their sleeve.
- Stretch the opponent out slightly to create space for the omoplata.
- Release the heel hook and finalize the transition into the omoplata, ensuring to let go of the sleeve grip to complete the escape.
