About this video

Executing a knee slice pass from the De La Riva guard involves several key steps:

  1. Begin by breaking the opponent's grip and engaging your hip to pop their De La Riva hook off.
  2. Apply pressure by holding the opponent's leg and reaching for their lapel, stepping over their leg and pinching their knee with your own.
  3. Anticipate the opponent's reaction to move away when you pinch their knee, and use this timing to move your leg across to the other side for the knee cut.
  4. Keep your elbow tight on their hips and switch your grip from their pants to their arm to counter their push.
  5. Engage further by reaching for the opponent's lapel to prevent them from scooting their hip away.
  6. Hold their pants, step over, and pinch their leg tightly, sitting on their foot rather than their shin to avoid being kicked off balance.
  7. When you feel the opponent kicking you out, use the momentum to step over and pinch their hips.
  8. If the opponent does not block you, slide straight through to complete the pass.
  9. If the opponent uses their elbow to block, let go of your knee below their knee and slide to continue the pass.

These steps will help you maintain control and effectively pass the De La Riva guard using the knee slice technique.
