About this video
Passing the De La Riva guard when the opponent is setting up for a single leg involves a series of precise movements:
- Maintain balance and lower your base as the opponent controls your sleeve and attempts to kick your leg to set up the single leg.
- Position your shoulder on the opponent's ear, ensuring not to hug their head. Your arm should extend down, crossing their back.
- Place the hand that is being controlled by the sleeve onto the opponent's pants for grip.
- Execute a small back step to initiate the spin on the opponent, then sit down on your buttocks.
- Use your foot to create traction and turn your shoulder into the opponent's face to prevent them from turning towards you.
- Continue to hold the opponent's leg tightly, back step, and then 'turn the wheel' with their body by spinning them.
- Pinch the opponent's leg down with your legs and apply continuous pressure with your shoulder on their face to complete the pass.
