About this video
Initiate from spider guard, transitioning to a 50/50 guard and securing a straight ankle lock:
- Start in spider guard, then move your foot from the opponent's bicep to the mat, creating an opening for them to attempt a Knee on Belly.
- Allow the opponent to think they can pass, but maintain spider guard control to prevent the pass.
- Bring your leg under and in front of the opponent's legs to enter the 50/50 guard position.
- Hook your leg in the 50/50 position and find the angle to secure the ankle lock grip.
- Release the spider guard and focus on the 50/50 grip, ensuring your hip is off the mat to maintain engagement.
- Use a pendulum motion with your leg to create momentum and execute a backward roll.
- Spread your legs, look up to the ceiling, and bring your shoulder blades together to finalize the ankle lock position.
- Adjust your grip on the opponent's Achilles tendon, ensuring your elbow is close to your ribs.
- Look up to the ceiling and make an "ugly face" (indicating effort) to apply pressure and secure the tap.
