Escaping the Single Leg X-Guard with a leg drag and Estima Lock:
- When trapped in Single Leg X-Guard, avoid pushing the opponent's foot inwards as it may lead to disqualification in IBJJF competitions.
- Instead, turn your hip away from the opponent and use your hands to control their knee and ankle, or the pants for better grip.
- Push the opponent's leg out from between your legs to lighten their control.
- Go under the opponent's leg to initiate a leg drag, dropping your knee heavily to secure the position.
- Anticipate the opponent placing their foot on your hip to prevent the leg drag and recover their guard.
- As the opponent pushes on your belly to recover, set up the Estima Lock by creating a concave with your body and holding their leg.
- Fall back and step forward, sitting on your butt to apply the lock.
- Apply heavy pressure with your knee turned inwards, facing away from the opponent, to make your knee heavy.
- Use a C-grip on the opponent's ankle to force it out if possible, setting up a leg drag.
- When the opponent pushes your belly, secure the Estima Lock, squeeze your belly, and fall back to get the tap.
