About this video
Transitioning from spider guard to waiter position, the focus is on securing a submission. Begin with a spider guard grip on the collar and a leg hooking behind the opponent's buttock to lift them. Control the opponent's cuff to prevent escape.
- Slide your shin under the opponent's knee to adjust into the 70-30 guard.
- Push upwards with your legs to encourage the opponent to put weight on your chest.
- If they don't apply pressure, manually bend their foot and place it on your belt knot as a guideline.
- Sit up, switch grips, and secure a rear naked choke grip on their foot.
- Lock your elbows, pull back, and if the opponent puts weight on it, they will tap out.
- The submission works by creating a concave shape with your belly, letting out air, and then squeezing your core as they step into the "hole" created by your body.
- For the Estima/Tama Lock, keep the opponent's leg raised, control the cuff of their pants, and maintain the shin under the knee.
- Push with the foot on the belt to manage distance and pull them in when necessary.
- Before the opponent can apply their weight back, curl their toes onto your belly button, sit up, and secure the lock.
- Remember to torque your elbows for the submission and create the concave belly shape for the lock to be effective.
