About this video
When trapped in the C-Guard, half guard with knee shield, control the opponent's lapel to prevent guard passing. To counter this, whip your arm between their legs, touching the mat while standing up, and cut on their shin to attempt a pass.
- As you try to get around the opponent, they will likely place their foot on your hip to maintain the knee shield.
- Step forward with one foot, then the other, and lock in the Estima (Stemi) or Tama lock by bending their leg.
- You can increase the effectiveness of the submission by throwing your leg over their body and pulling back.
- Maintain the lapel grip throughout the movement to control the opponent.
- Force the opponent's leg to bend by stepping over it, then sit back to complete the submission.
- For an even tighter submission, bring your other leg on top to lock it in place.
