About this video
Addressing the challenge of passing the guard when faced with a Lasso and Spider Guard hybrid position, the focus is on neutralizing the Lasso, which is the primary obstacle. The following steps outline the process:
- Drive the knee, in this case the right knee, against the opponent's knee to create the necessary bend to circle the arm in and push their leg down.
- Walk back to unlock the elbow and free the arm from the deep Lasso. The foot will be in the air, making it easier to clear.
- Walk towards the front door direction, prompting the opponent to place their foot on your hip.
- Step forward and adjust the grip to secure the Estima Lock. If additional pressure is needed, fall back and throw the leg over to finalize the submission.
- To clear the Lasso, walk back and close the elbow to create space and remove the opponent's control.
- As you continue to pressure and move in the direction away from the Lasso, the opponent will likely place their foot on your hip again, allowing you to pull on the grip they have on you and set up the Estima Lock.
- Advance forward with steps to tighten the Estima Lock and achieve the tap.
This technique emphasizes the importance of managing the opponent's grips and using calculated movements to set up the Estima Lock submission.
