About this video

Executing a Rolling Estima/Tama Lock when the opponent rolls in the opposite direction:

  1. Start by bringing the opponent into the 70-30 guard position, controlling the cuff of their gi.
  2. As the opponent starts to roll, move away from them and capture their toes, placing them against your belly.
  3. Switch your grip on their toes as they continue to roll, anticipating that they may collapse to escape.
  4. Bring your leg over their rolling body and thrust your hips in to apply pressure on the foot.
  5. If necessary, you can increase the submission pressure by bringing your head down towards the mat.
  6. As the opponent's foot is under pressure, transition from the waiter sweep to the 70-30 guard, maintaining control of the toes.
  7. Sit up and immediately follow the opponent's motion as they fall, continuing to thrust your hips to finalize the submission.
