About this video
Initiate from a double guard pull by catching the opponent's ankles and sliding in to set up ankle locks. If the opponent's feet are too flexible for a successful lock, use the attempt to create the illusion of an attack, buying time to set up the next move.
- Control the opponent's collar to maintain dominance. If they try to scoot out, you can still manage the situation.
- If the opponent attempts to come on top, transition to a single-leg X-Guard. If they remain in place, reach for and lift their foot, bringing it across to the other side for a leg drag position.
- Cuff the opponent's knee and start to come up, keeping their leg pinched down to prevent them from rising.
- Secure the position by grabbing your own knee, choosing either an underhook or an over-the-shoulder grip. Place your knee next to their hip to finalize the pass.
- If the opponent starts to scoot out before you can cross their leg, switch to the 70/30 guard.
- From the 70/30 guard, lift and place their toes on your belly button, securing the Estima/Tama lock for the submission.
Adapt to the opponent's defense to decide whether to pass or submit.
