About this video
Executing an arm triangle from side control begins with positioning the opponent's arm to the outside using the right knee. If the opponent's elbow is not tight and the arm cannot be moved with the right knee, the left knee can also be utilized to achieve this.
- Once the arm is to the outside, trap it by bringing the right knee back and placing the opponent's arm on top of the thigh.
- Next, pass the right arm over the opponent's face and secure the elbow outside their neck.
- Bring the left hand across to trap the opponent's hip, preventing their escape.
- Thread the right hand under the opponent's neck, ensuring it passes all the way through.
- Shift the body slightly and place the right leg over the opponent's face, maintaining tight control.
- As the right knee touches the mat, extend the left leg back and move the head to the opposite side to secure the arm triangle.
- Finally, drop the hips down and squeeze to finish the submission from the north-south position.
Remember, the initial control can be established using either the right or left knee to move the opponent's arm, and the key to securing the arm triangle is to maintain tightness throughout the transition.
