About this video
Executing a Monoplata from side control:
- Start by establishing side control and positioning your foot below the opponent's knee.
- Move the opponent's arm out of the way and place your foot on their belly, forcing them to block your foot.
- Control their arm and pull it down while simultaneously jumping your left foot over their arm.
- Use your right knee to force the opponent to look away, which will make their body turn slightly.
- Place your right foot over their arm and bring their arm up, then adjust your body by bringing your foot close to their shoulder.
- Secure the arm by closing your arm around it and trapping it with your left foot.
- Pass your right foot over their face and fall to the other side, keeping your shoulder on the ground to prevent giving space for escape.
- After falling, do not let your neck touch the ground; instead, keep your right arm positioned to block their arm and hand.
- Finally, place your left foot to trap their right arm, and with your left hand, move it out from your neck.
- Adjust your body by turning and lifting both feet upwards, securing the Monoplata submission.
