Back Escape Counter

About this video

When you have your opponent's back and they try to bridge straight up, putting pressure on your chest, you can counter this by using both of your hooks under their knees. This forces your opponent to go forward, relieving the pressure on your chest.

  1. When your opponent bridges, use both of your hooks under their knees simultaneously to bring them forward.
  2. As soon as your opponent's butt touches the mat, let go of the seatbelt grip and transition to a choke.
  3. Place one hand behind their shoulder and pass your other hand over to finish with a mataleão (rear naked choke).
  4. It's important to keep your hand next to your opponent's head when they bridge. This prevents them from escaping by moving their head to the other side.
  5. After bringing your opponent forward and releasing the pressure, catch the choke while keeping both hooks under their legs.
