About this video

Executing a half guard pass involves securing an underhook and controlling the opponent's head, interlocking your hands for a firm grip. Transition the grip by connecting your fingers and shifting your hands to the opposite side, simultaneously moving your head to the same side to apply pressure on the opponent's head and neck. To break their leg lock, elevate your hips and shake vigorously.

  1. Start by applying an underhook and controlling the opponent's head, meeting your hands together above them.
  2. Switch your grip by interlocking your fingers and pass your hands to the other side of the opponent's head.
  3. Place your head on the same side as your hands to increase pressure on the opponent's head and neck.
  4. Raise your hips and shake to loosen the opponent's leg lock.
  5. Cut your knee through their legs while increasing pressure and forcing the opponent to look away from you.
  6. If the opponent blocks your foot, use your free foot to kick their leg away.
  7. Bring your knee back to the side of their hips and keep your other knee up to prevent them from recomposing guard.
  8. Finally, stabilize in side control by placing your head up, setting your knee down, and adjusting your grips as necessary.

This sequence ensures a controlled pass from half guard to side control while minimizing the opponent's ability to escape or recompose their guard.
