About this video

Executing a double step over Kimura from side control begins with an attempt to secure a guillotine choke. When the opponent prevents the hands from meeting to complete the choke, the focus shifts to attacking the arm.

  1. Start by trying to place your knee on the opponent's back. As they escape their hips and grab your right hand to prevent the guillotine, switch to controlling their wrist.
  2. Pass your right hand over to secure a Kimura grip on the opponent's arm.
  3. Place your left knee on the mat and step your right leg over the opponent's head to apply pressure.
  4. When the opponent defends by gripping their hands together, you must adjust your position to break their defense.
  5. Drop your right knee down while swinging your left leg over their body, positioning yourself to sit on top of their neck.
  6. Attempt to finish the Kimura by applying pressure. If the opponent's grip is strong and they resist, use your left leg to help break their grip.
  7. Stretch your left leg while pressing your knee down to assist in breaking their defense, allowing you to finalize the Kimura submission.
