About this video
Counter the opponent's resistance during a suicide roll when stuck in half guard:
- Maintain a hook on the opponent's leg and frame or control their knee with your hand, preferring the frame for better control.
- Keep the underhook to pull the opponent back towards you.
- Execute a reverse hip escape by pulling your hips under the opponent, aiming to apply pressure on their knee.
- Ensure your right leg is tightly hooking their foot and use your left foot to post on the floor.
- Continue the reverse hip escape, moving your hips to lift the opponent's knee off the mat and flattening yourself underneath them.
- As you torque the opponent's knee with the reverse hip escape, their balance is compromised, allowing you to continue until you can come up on your other hip.
- Once the opponent's balance is broken and their butt hits the floor, you can come up and start working to pass their guard.
Practice the reverse hip escape as a warm-up drill to familiarize yourself with the movement, ensuring you can apply it effectively during live rolling.
