About this video
Executing an arm drag from a shallow over-under position:
- To bait the over-under position, place your knee slightly higher to encourage your opponent to hug the leg.
- As your opponent reaches under to hug the leg, immediately execute the technique without waiting for them to secure a deep over-under.
- Simultaneously, push your opponent's head across with your right hand at their ear, grab their arm with your left hand, and kick your leg straight.
- Use the momentum to come up on your elbow and pull their arm through, aiming to take their back.
- If the opponent reacts by sitting to their hip, you may lose the back but can still come up on top, transitioning from bottom to top position and scoring two points.
- It's crucial to act fast and not allow the opponent's shoulder to reach your stomach, as this will make it too late to perform the arm drag effectively.
- When kicking, use the momentum to easily come up to your elbow, then to your knee, and proceed to chase the back.
- If the opponent sits to their hip in response, transition into playing guard and secure your position.
The goal is to either take the back for a dominant position or, if the opponent counters, to come up on top for an advantageous guard position.
