About this video
Counter the knee cut pass when the opponent has both knees off the mat:
- Maintain the "paper clip" position with pressure into the opponent and feet locked.
- Control the opponent's arm with an overhand grip on the tricep and an underhand grip on the wrist.
- Pull the opponent towards your head while driving your knee into them.
- Turn both of your knees to the right to off-balance the opponent and bring them down to their hip.
- As you off-balance the opponent, come up and remove your inside leg to place a hook on their leg.
- Use the hook to prevent the opponent from coming up as you extend and come up to your knee.
- Ensure the opponent's knee is not on the mat, as this technique requires both of their knees to be off the mat for it to work.
- If the opponent's knee is on the mat, recognize they will have a strong base and this technique will not be effective.
- After off-balancing the opponent, maintain control and use the hook to delay their recovery, giving you time to come up to your knee and complete the sweep.
