About this video
Counter the knee cut pass when the opponent's knee is down by transitioning to a single leg attack instead of attempting a roll or underhook, which could lead to being countered into a three-quarter mount or back take.
- Shoot your leg straight and underhook the opponent's leg instead of reaching for the underhook across their back.
- Stay on your shoulder rather than coming up to your elbow immediately.
- Prevent the opponent's knee from moving across or to the side by using your elbow and hand to control it.
- When ready to wrestle up, knee the opponent in the buttocks to make them post their hands on the mat, reducing their weight on you.
- Use your toes and knee to come up while staying balanced on your ear and shoulder.
- Once up, if the opponent stands, follow suit and establish a good single leg finishing position.
- For the takedown, ensure your head is tight to their chest, your hands are connected with the back hand on top, and your knees are pinching.
- Execute a stutter step to trip the opponent: step your left foot to where your right foot is, then step your right foot behind their leg while pushing into them with your head.
- If the opponent remains on their knees or applies a strong whizzer, you can apply previous techniques from the single leg position.
- When the opponent stands, stand with them and complete the single leg takedown with a trip.
Control the knee to prevent losing the position and use the opportunity to wrestle up to a single leg when the opponent knee cuts with the opposite knee down.
