About this video
Initiate the sweep when the opponent steps into a knee cut position by placing a reverse De La Riva hook, pushing them away, grabbing their foot, and placing your right foot on their hip.
- As the opponent places their knee on the mat, making the tripod sweep impossible, push them back to shift their weight onto the knee.
- Pull their foot towards you, which is easier when their knee is down as opposed to when their leg is up and the foot feels glued to the mat.
- Obtain a deep grip under the opponent's leg by lifting your hips and using your inside knee to push, creating momentum to swing towards the right.
- Apply torque on the opponent's knee by swinging your leg and pushing with the inside knee, maintaining the deep grip.
- Once the opponent sits to their hip and attempts to come up, keep bending their leg to prevent them from rising.
- Post your hand on the mat and pull your right knee up to end up in a top position, mirroring the initial position but on the opposite side.
Repeat the process by placing the hook, pushing the opponent away, securing the foot on the hip, and extending the leg to hook under and get a deep grip. Swing the leg, turn the knee to break their base, post the hand on the mat, and come up to complete the sweep.
