About this video
Executing the Suicide Roll sweep when the opponent counters with forward pressure:
- Initiate the movement by coming up to your knees, driving the opponent to your right.
- When the opponent responds by driving back into you, possibly stepping up a foot for more pressure, use their momentum for the sweep.
- Pull with the underhook and roll over your left shoulder.
- Your left hand can either grab their leg or create a frame against it to assist in completing the sweep.
- Roll onto your shoulder, using the frame to prevent the opponent from countering if you get stuck mid-sweep.
- Extend the leg against the frame to finish the sweep if necessary.
- Ideally, land in a strong passing position, ready to back step and secure side control.
- If the opponent resists the initial sweep attempt by driving back, commit to the roll and come up to your knees, then proceed to pass.
