About this video
Defending against a knee cut pass, transition to the Kiss of the Dragon:
- Avoid attempting an underhook when the opponent is knee cutting, as it can lead to a three-quarter mount.
- Use a foot on the opponent's hip to create space, employing a knee shield and hands if necessary.
- Attempt to grab the opponent's heel. If out of reach, use a scissoring motion with the legs to bring the heel closer.
- Lift the hips and pull the opponent's leg to secure a deep grip under the heel, ideally under the elbow.
- Instead of a large swinging motion to invert, use a hook on the opponent's leg to pull and invert tightly, minimizing the risk of a kneebar.
- Frame behind the opponent's knee with the opposite hand in front of their leg to prevent them from spinning or stepping over.
- Use the knee to push the opponent away, creating space to insert the other hook.
- With both hooks in place, open up to have one hook on each of the opponent's legs.
- Let go of the foot, grab the hip, and use a kicking motion to sit up while sliding the other hand up to maintain connection.
- Position the elbow over the knee to secure the position, kick out the opponent's leg, and transition to taking the back with a seatbelt grip and hooks.
