About this video
From the top side saddle position, you can execute a rolling inside heel hook if you're unable to control the second leg. Here's how:
- Post one hand on the mat and reach down with the other to cup the bottom part of your opponent's calf.
- Roll over the shoulder of the arm that's reaching for the calf, following your opponent's foot with your head.
- Drive your knee down to the mat and place both shoulders on the mat, positioning yourself to look at your opponent's heel.
- Push off with your feet to complete the roll, landing in the inside heel hook position.
- Finish the move by pushing your hips to the right and pulling your shoulders back, securing the heel hook.
If your opponent tries to hide their heel by turning in a certain direction, you can still execute this move:
- Drive your top knee down to the mat while reaching for your opponent's calf and placing your head on the mat.
- Look towards your left hand side so your head follows the foot.
- Push off with your back leg while staying tight to your opponent's knee, performing a quick forward roll to follow your opponent's heel.
- Once you land in position, adjust your hips and shoulders for the heel hook on the other side. Keep your hands high, push your hips to the right and peel your shoulders back to the left for a successful finish.
