About this video
From a one knee in, one knee out position, the technique begins by clearing the knee shield with a shift and elbow movement. Once in this position, the opponent is forced to frame to prevent a guard pass. The technique then focuses on attacking the top frame as the opponent attempts to create space.
- As the opponent frames, grab their hand by the pinky and pull it across your body while turning your shoulder in. At the same time, reach your hand across the back of their neck.
- Tuck your chin on their shoulder to hold them in place as they try to put their shoulder on the mat.
- Release the hand and bring your elbow over the back of their head, feeding your hand inside to set up the Darce choke.
- Compress their head with your elbow and wrap your fingers around your tricep. Keep their right knee pinned down with your leg to keep them turned into you.
- Switch your hips to move your hand up by their shoulder for a tight lock.
- Finish the choke by switching your hips again and hooking your right ankle behind their knee. Draw everything in towards your right elbow for the finish.
This technique is effective in situations where the opponent uses a knee shield and frames to prevent a guard pass. The key is to control their framing arm and set up the Darce choke in one fluid motion.
