About this video

The Rolling Anaconda technique is a powerful move that can be initiated when you're having trouble passing your opponent's guard, particularly if they're using their top leg effectively to prevent your pass.

  1. If your opponent is actively using their top leg to prevent your pass, switch your focus to their far shoulder. Your goal is to drive their far shoulder to the mat while simultaneously turning your knee cut knee in the opposite direction. This will rotate your opponent's hips to the other side, giving you an opportunity to attack their neck.
  2. When your opponent's head lifts off the mat and is square, jump for a guillotine. Grab their chin, roll, and secure a chin strap.
  3. Immediately look to control their arm by getting a grip in their armpit. This will allow you to turn them and throw your leg over. Avoid gripping by their elbow as they can get it to the mat and escape.
  4. Once you have your knee over, you can adjust your hands. Shoot your choking arm as deep as you can. Avoid reaching out as your opponent can grab your hand, making it difficult to lock up the anaconda.
  5. Throw your elbow over, between your opponent's elbow and ribs. This will allow you to shoot your hand inside. Bring your other hand up over their shoulder and secure it with your chin.
  6. To finish the move, walk towards your opponent's hips while drawing your right elbow into your ribs.
