About this video
When in a flank position and your opponent tries to force a leg drag position with their head low, you can use your shin to move their head and maintain control:
- Keep your foot resting on the opponent's hip and maintain your frames.
- If your opponent circles, find their hip right away.
- If your opponent's head remains low and they use it to track your knee, you won't be able to high leg. In this case, get your shin in front of their face to move their head out of the way.
- Once their head is out of the way, you can find your high leg. Use your shin to pummel in front of their face to move their head.
- When you find this position, your opponent moving in either direction keeps them in front of you, allowing you to establish hooks.
- If your opponent follows your inner knee with their forehead, it makes it hard for you to find the high leg. In this case, use your shin to move their head, then put your hooks in.
- Stay sticky in front of your opponent, putting hooks in at the thigh, not at the knee.
- If your opponent doesn't circle and their head is blocking your high leg, you need to move their head using your shin. This way, you don't sacrifice your hand as a frame, which could allow them to turn your hips away.
