About this video
The one-on-one grip, popularized by Marcelo Garcia, is a powerful tool for maintaining control and managing distance. Here's how to execute it:
- Start by grabbing the outside of your opponent's wrist and covering their wrist watch.
- Pinch your two fingers and turn their wrist upwards so that their pulse is facing the ceiling. This gives you stronger control.
- If your opponent tries to pull away, the grip remains secure and "sticky".
- If your opponent pulls their wrist, guide your hand to their elbow to recover an elbow two-on-one grip.
- This grip can also be used to pull your opponent in, allowing you to make connections and maintain inside position.
- Remember to keep your elbow tight and inside for a stronger grip.
- If your opponent tries to strip the thumb line, turning their wrist makes it harder for them to do so, keeping you connected.
Mastering this one-on-one grip can help you establish control and close distance effectively.
