About this video
Initiate the technique by extending the leg to push the opponent away and transition the Heel Hook to the inside. Swing the leg in as if attempting a leg lasso, and simultaneously scoop in to secure the opponent's ankle with a firm grip.
- While maintaining the ankle grip, hug the opponent's leg and secure your lapel to prevent them from passing your guard.
- Keep the De La Riva hook in place and focus on not losing the ankle grip, as this is crucial for control.
- To execute the sweep, pull the opponent towards you to create an off-balance position.
- Turn your body to the side and use a kicking motion against their leg to further off-balance them, making them vulnerable to a potential leg lock.
- Instead of pursuing the leg lock, release the grip and come up to complete the sweep and work towards passing the guard.
Throughout the technique, it's important to maintain the ankle grip and adjust the lapel grip for tight control, ensuring the opponent cannot escape. Use the momentum from the leg lasso motion to aid in off-balancing the opponent before executing the sweep.
