About this video

Escaping the triangle choke begins with maintaining the correct posture to prevent the choke from being fully applied. Keep the elbow low and heavy on the ground to prevent the opponent's shoulder from pressing against your neck. Make a grip under the opponent's armpit and bring your elbow outside their hip, drawing their hip in as much as possible. Ensure the blade of your forearm remains on the inside and your shoulder stays off your neck.
  1. With your palm facing up, punch your elbow hard to the ground, moving the opponent's hip away from you.
  2. Use your free hand to reach over the opponent's arm, always going over, not under.
  3. Get off your knees and stack the opponent in a push-up position, placing your hands on them to make them carry your weight.
  4. Walk around while keeping your elbow tight to your body until you pop their legs open.
  5. Do not attempt to extract yourself until the legs are open. Once they are, look up and exit the triangle.
  6. Throughout the escape, ensure your elbow remains closed and tight to prevent worsening the choke.
It's crucial to keep the shoulder away from the neck and maintain pressure on the opponent with your elbow to prevent them from moving your arm across their hip. Stack the opponent effectively by leaning forward and walking around, keeping the elbow in the same spot until their legs open, allowing for a safe escape.
