About this video
Escape from an armbar when off-balanced and stacked:
- Secure the arm being attacked by creating a lock, holding your bicep over their leg to buy time.
- When the opponent uses both hands to try to break the lock, secure their sleeve on the same side as your head.
- Bring your toes close to your buttocks to prepare for a bridge. The grip on the sleeve prevents the opponent from posting their hand to stop the bridge.
- Execute a big bridge over your shoulder, looking in the direction of the bridge to enhance its effectiveness.
- Turn your hips to face down and step over the opponent's body.
- Kick your leg to help pull yourself up into the top position. If stuck, post your hand quickly to push yourself up.
- Once on top, maintain tight control and avoid leaning forward to prevent being off-balanced again.
- Sit back on your heel and bring the opposite leg up, keeping your weight centered.
- If the opponent attempts to switch to a triangle, exert pressure on their hands, reach across, and come off your knees to pass their guard.
