About this video

Executing the Kimura from closed guard involves isolating the opponent's arm by moving their shoulder and exposing their hand to the floor. To counter this, one must prevent their arm from being extended towards their back.
  1. Step the leg forward and cuff the thigh with the hand that is being controlled, then place the leg down to prevent the arm from being extended.
  2. Shift the opponent sideways, ensuring their back is off the mat, and maintain this position by posting the far leg and driving the shoulder into their armpit.
  3. Keep applying pressure and avoid sitting back. Instead, maintain a right angle with the body to control the opponent's posture.
  4. Reach low for the opponent's forearm, grabbing the elbow or sleeve, and start pulling their arm towards the center.
  5. Drive forward while pulling the arm out to release the pressure of the Kimura and potentially escape the submission.
Throughout the technique, it is crucial to keep the opponent's back off the mat, apply constant pressure, and maintain the correct body angle to effectively counter the Kimura attempt.
