About this video
Executing a Darce choke when an opponent attacks with a Kimura from side control:
- When the opponent starts attacking the arm, hide the arm away to prevent the Kimura grip.
- The opponent needs to pull your shoulder off the ground to finish the Kimura, which requires them to lay their weight on you.
- Frame against the opponent's hip to prevent them from stepping over your shoulder.
- If you sense you're losing the battle to prevent the step over, use the same arm to go under the opponent as they step over.
- Push yourself to the opposite side of the opponent's body.
- Rotate your thumb to gain leverage and extend your arm.
- Sit up and trap the opponent's shoulder to transition into the Darce choke.
- Keep your elbow on the floor to create a frame and prevent the opponent from lifting your arm.
- As the opponent attempts to step over your head or far shoulder, continue to frame and prepare to move under them.
- Once you've moved under and to the side, extend your arm, sit up, and lock the Darce choke on the far shoulder, squeezing to finish.
