About this video
Hitchhiker Escape from the Armbar:
- When caught in an armbar with the opponent using one arm and their leg to apply pressure on your bicep and elbow, prepare for the hitchhiker escape if you cannot bridge and come on top.
- Do not attempt this escape if the opponent has a Kimura grip; it requires the ability to bring your hand towards your face, which is not possible with a Kimura lock.
- As the opponent applies pressure and you feel your grip breaking, start to move your hip away from them as much as possible, elevating your hips and staying on your toes.
- When you sense the arm is about to be extended, perform a strong bridge, turning your head away and bringing your thumb down towards your face.
- Relax your arm to let the opponent extend it fully. As they do, move your head out and around, escaping the armbar.
- Remember to keep your arm relaxed during the escape. The more the opponent tries to extend the arm, the easier it will be for you to spin and roll out.
- Believe in the move and execute it with confidence, ensuring a smooth transition out of the armbar position.
